If you asked me when my fitness journey began, I wouldn’t start with a transformation photo.

I’d tell you about the fluorescent-lit hallway outside my mom’s Jazzercise class at the YWCA. I was the kid with his back against the wall, watching her bounce on a mini trampoline and flow through weights & calisthenics like it was a sacred ritual. I didn’t realize it then, but those evenings quietly planted the seeds of consistency, structure, and devotion.

That was the inception. What has followed is a two-decade evolution—part obsession, part identity, and now career

By 7th grade, after football season, a Day One’s dad would drop us off at the YMCA. No programming, no coaching—just some foreign machines, our biceps, and a need to see who had the most forearm veins the next day in the car line. We didn’t know what we were doing, but something clicked.

We were building—not just muscle, but belief in what effort could yield.

Then came sprint drills and two-a-days, the summer before sophomore year. The day Coach Peden stopped conditioning to compliment my arms—it changed everything. Performance mattered, but when you’re 14, that kind of validation hits different. A man needs so little to latch onto—mine started with a bicep vein and a nod from the overweight lineman coach.

I chased size and speed like a dog chasing cars. First for sport. Then for women. And now?

Now it’s for confidence. For longevity. For the functionality to move pain-free, eat well, and still train like an athlete.

Because this isn’t just about looking the part— It’s about being the man my (future, sweet, and beautiful) wife deserves.

It’s about feeling like the action figure my (future) kids see me as. 

It’s about dancing all night and snowboarding all day—when the schedule allows.

The gym became my constant. I moved schools, cities, careers—trained through heartbreak and maybe a bad decision or two. 

No matter what, I trained. 

My goals evolved—from power and speed to size and symmetry, and now, to functionality and longevity. But effort in training? That was always mine.

In a world of variables, I had my constant.

In my 20s, I chased aesthetics. Vanity? Maybe. But I looked the way I thought a man should.

In my 30s, it shifted. I wanted to move well. Recover fast. Enjoy steak and wine with clients. A beer with the boys. Scotch with my dad.

I wanted vitality and functionality—and I want to look like an action figure while doing it.
